Overview
Details & Nice to Know
Carbon steel heads are first stripped of their plating down to bare metal, while stainless steel heads have no plating to remove and can be torched directly. The head is then heated by hand until the surface shifts through straw, bronze, blue and purple tones, before being finished and sealed with oil.
Colour depends on the steel, the head's shape and how the heat moves across it, so no two are the same. Carbon steel colours more vividly than stainless.
It's a living finish. Colours deepen with play, and wear shows first on the sole and impact zone.
Durability sits in the middle: tougher than Raw, but it needs more care than Nickel or Cerakote. An occasional light oiling helps.
Good to know: polishing the head before heating gives brighter, glassier colours (Polished Torched).
Options
Torched options
Polished Torched: The head is mirror-polished before heating, so the colours come out brighter and more glassy.
Brushed Torched: The head is given a fine, straight-grain brushed texture before heating, so the colours take on a soft satin sheen with less glare.
Tour Blast Torched: The head is bead-blasted to an even matte texture before heating, so the colours come out deeper and more muted with little to no glare.
